The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”- Isaiah 40:8

Nothing in this world last forever. Everything is dying around us, we are doomed. When we realize this truth, that there is an end to all things: relationships, jobs, and people’s lives, then the end becomes easier to bear. It is when we run away from the death of things by clinging on for too long out of fear of what lies on the other side or by attempting to simply ignore it is when we truly die. It is in the midst of this counterintuitive truth that we miss out on the beauty of life and of truly LIVING and embracing all the wonderful opportunities that accompany it.

It is in this state of fragility and temporality that we encounter the paradoxical state of beauty and death: Everything is more beautiful because it’s dying.  Everything is more beautiful BECAUSE we’re doomed. We will never be lovelier than we are now. We will never be here again.  It is those of us who fail to see this eternal truth who set the world ablaze with their rage driven selfishness and conquests of power and lust seeking to consume and destroy all that is beautiful, fragile, and precious. - ©Joseph Boston
